Where can I find free tax advice from former IRS workers?
Haven’t filed in years, must file this year, can’t afford to pay an attorney or high dollar tax preparer. I will file an online extension and try to do it myself, but I need help with some questions. Also, what is the deadline for online extension?
Sometimes retired IRS workers volunteer at VITA tax sites or AARP TCE tax sites. Both are sponsored by the IRS. You could call IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to find out if there is a VITA or TCE site near you. Their help is free,, some won’t do returns if over $30,000. ,, some will. but most will answer questions and explain tax law to you for free.
